St George Marathon

Yesterday St George held their annual marathon. It is one of my favorite days here. It is so inspirational to me to watch these runners accomplish what they have trained so hard for. Here are some facts about the marathon:
15th Largest Marathon In The USA

Over 10,000 participants signed up but only 7000 could be accepted

You can qualify for the Boston Marathon from this race.

Runners from all over the USA & nine foreign countries were represented.
Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Japan, Mexico and the US.

60% Male Runners - 40% Female Runners

There are 37 Runner & Wheelchair Divisions to compete in.

Over 200,000 cups are used at 15 Aid Stations along the route.

Over 4,250 gallons of water and 1,960 gallons of Gatorade hydration drink are consumed.

Based on past races, it was expected that approximately 80% of the registered runners will finish the race - all 26 miles and 385 yards!

We sit at the mortuary to watch. The mortuary is at the 25 mile mark. We get to see people at their worst AND best at this point.
It rained and was chilly. It was cooler last year also. I wonder how many people pray that it is cool on this day. Hmmm. . . .
Anthon and Dan
This is one of Robbs bosses, Todd. (That's Bud under the umbrella)
Robb's other boss, Ron. Our home teacher ran and actually qualified for Boston. He was too quick for me to take a picture. Great job, Randy!!
Another sign. Congratulations to all the runners. Robb is going to train and participate next year. I know he will do wonderful. Good luck babe!
(Also it was Hopes birthday. She is now 17. Happy Birthday beautiful!!!)

Robb will need a lot of support if he does a marathon!!! Tony did the one in Casper when we lived there. Way to go, Robb! Great pictures! I love to see your family. When Robb was coaching w/ Tony you were pregnant with Jazz...you have done a great job with your life, Jem! Congratulations!

26 miles.....they are all crazy!! I have friends that do the marathons and their knees are wiped out but still they trudge on.
Those endorphins must be pretty potent. When I was at physical therapy, they had a lot of those marathoners there too. LOL
