It Happened

Well, the inevitable happened; I turned the dreaded 40. People keep telling me, its just a number, and Im trying to take it in stride but am having quite a difficult time. This picture helped me get through the day.
  Its been a fun ride so far.  I hope the next 40 dont slow down at all and I am around to post the same thing when I turn 80.
I love this Ode by Andy Rooney.

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.. Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.

Something to be Proud of

Jazz had her last Border League Basketball game today.  Their little team of 6 took 2nd.  I am so proud of them.  Its been a long season and I have so enjoyed watching these girlies and getting to know each of them.  They each brought something extra to the team.  I have a mothers love for all 6 of them.  I am excited for high school.  I think they will dominate.

Jasmines coach was amazing.  He was always, always positive with the girls and it brought out the best in them.  They wanted to win, not only for themselves, but for the coach, too.  Jasmines self confidence has shot through the roof.  Thanks for a great season, Coach Mike.
And I just had to throw this in.  When Bentley eats, this is his mmmm face. It means "This is some great grub!"

My Mom

I have, arguably, the most amazing mother on earth.  I just want to share some things she has taught me:

* Youre never too old to have fun
* Dont complain - theres always someone worse off than you
* Laugh, laugh, laugh - especially at yourself
* Family first
* Love the gospel
* Keep your husband happy in the boudoir
*Give everyone a second or third chance
* Its easy to find joy in even the smallest of things
* Theres always someone who needs help - always be looking for those service opportunities

I wish I was an eloquent writer and could better put my feelings into words but here goes:  My mothers love is pure, unwavering and unconditional.  I thank Heavenly Father everyday for sending me to her.  She is strong and wise and loving and I couldnt ask for anything better.  I hope that I am half the mother that my mom was, and is, to me.
